10 Foods To Incorporate In Your Everyday Diet

Now that we’ve had our cheat meals during this Holiday season, it’s time for a detox and start incorporating healthy foods into our everyday lifestyle. Pizza, fries and grease may taste phenomenon, HOWEVER, greasy foods can have detrimental effects on one’s body if consumed excessively throughout one’s lifetime. They can cause diseases down the road like heart disorders, obesity and nutrient deficiency. More information can be found here:

Disclaimer: I’m in no way a licensed dietitian, I’m just a regular college graduate who is very passionate about fitness and healthy living. The 10 foods I’m going to recommend to y’all are entirely part of my personal experiences and they are foods that I believe to be beneficial to one’s health.

  1. Chia seeds

    Chia seeds are contains fiber (easier for feces to pass, makes digestion easier), omega 3 fatty acids (these fats are very good for you because it lowers triglycerides levels which lowers the risk of heart diseases), vitamins, and proteins(we all need that protein for energy and maintain muscle growth). I love chia seeds because they don’t have too much of a flavor so you can put that ingredient in literally everything you eat!! I love putting it in my oatmeals in the morning, giving me that extra boost of energy.
  2. Avocados

    Avocados contain a lot of good fats that is essential for the human body for various reasons. Look at the end of the article for a link to more information about that (it gets complicated!). It is also loaded with fiber and proteins. There are many ways to eat avocados. For instance, you can put it in smoothies, slice it up with eat it with a salad, and you can also make Guacamole and dip it with the food of your choice.
  3. Asparagus

    Asparagus is one vegetable plenty of fitness individuals eat because they have a low source of fat and calories. They also contain proteins for muscle growth. not going to lie, but asparagus may not taste the best (in my opinion). But there are ways to make it taste so much better. My go-to meal with asparagus is with rice and chicken/salmon. Add some sauce/spice to your asparagus also for nice flavor.
  4. Yogurt

    Yogurts are packed with probiotics which helps your body fights of bacterial and yeast infections. Yogurt are extremely easy to eat because you can just add it to the end of every meal. You don’t need to prepare it, which I like. It’s a super nice to-go food.

  5. Kale

    Kale is said to aid in cancer suppression since it inactivates carcinogens and prevents the formation of tumor. But don’t get the wrong idea, kale is not a magic food that will destroy cancerous cells or anything like that. It’s definitely a wonderful food to incorporate in your diet because it contains a lot of health benefits. Similar with asparagus, kale does not taste amazing. I normally like to make kale smoothies with added fruits and other vegetables.
  6. Blueberries

    Blueberries are one fruit that contains a lot of vitamins, helps with weight loss and also promotes healthy skin. That’s why they are such popular fruits in oatmeals in the morning because of its weight lost benefits. Blueberries taste so yummy and they are so easy to incorporate in your meals! It can be made into smoothies or just as a snack.
  7. Spinach

    Spinach is considered one of the healthiest vegetables on earth. They help prevent diseases, contain vitamins that are essential for the human body, and it is also said that spinach help with anti-aging. I LOVEE spinach so much!! It’s so yummy and it tastes amazing with rice and shrimp! So freaking obsessed! Healthy and yummy, win-win right?
  8. Salmon

    Salmons are packed with vitamins. Also, like chia seeds, they are filled with omega 3. I’m such a seafood girl, so this is a win-win for me! I can eat salmon all day everyday!! You can choose to bake it or grill it, anything that works best for you. If you want the ultimate healthy meal, add salmon to some spinach and asparagus with some brown rice. It will taste good and you will feel good, I promise!
  9. Nuts
    Nuts are full of proteins; they promote low cholesterol levels and weight loss. I didn’t add a picture to this category because there are so many variety of nuts out there! Almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, pistachios… etc. Nuts are also very easy to incorporate in your diet because you can pack it in a zip-lock baggie and take it everywhere you go. It’s a good snack that is also quite filling. If you need a little pick-me-up, nuts are the best way to go.
  10. Orange

    I love incorporating oranges in my diet because it contains vitamin C that helps boost up my immune system. It also promotes clear skin. When I was a kid, my grandparents home-grew our oranges and every morning, we would make freshly squeezed orange juice for its maximum health benefits. I hate taking oral vitamin Cs so I much prefer eating an orange.
